The red and black stars and stripes sweatshirt from Givenchy's Fall 2012 Menswear collection cemented the brand's hold on the printed sweatshirt. The sweatshirt has since become a "must" have fashion item being reiterated countless times by brands both haute and low. 2012 was also the last season in which these coveted tops were relatively affordable, the stars and stripes sweatshirt retailed for $595, current season Givenchy sweatshirts retail from $665 - $1775.

The top picture is the stars and stripes sweatshirt as it appeared on the runway, and the bottom picture is the top on myself in NYC this fall. Worn with our without a collared dress shirt underneath it is a comfortable and stylish option for men's evening wear.

I ordered my stars and stripes from Riccardi Boston, www.riccardiboston.com, back when Riccardi still sold Givenchy on their website. After the sweatshirt had been sold out for weeks everywhere else it appeared on the Riccardi site. I jumped on it and placed an order right away. Barely believing my luck I called moments later to confirm my order had been received. Not only did the salesperson have my order and information right at their fingertips, "we're very hands on here at Riccardi,"  he informed me that I obtained "the very last one" from the warehouse in Paris. I guess it was my lucky day!
